The novel Uglies focuses on a futuristic society where surgery to achieve beauty is a societal norm. With each cover, the idea of changing to beautify oneself in an unnatural way is demonstrated. The drop cap shows two different types forced together when they clearly don't fit while the conceptual cover shows the surgery side of beauty. All images were photographed by me personally!
